Katie Stuart .net :: Biography
Katie Anne Stuart was born on 22nd March 1985 in Vancouver in Canada.
 Her career started when she started attending a Vancouver Youth theatre for fun. She got landed with an agent and then began training at Tarlington Training also in Vancouver. As she was training there, she started to get work and continued training at the same time. It then became obvious that the training was no longer necessary, and she went into full time work.
Her first professional role was in a promotion video for Orca Bay Sports. Her first real TV appearance was in the TV series 'Poltergeist: The Legacy'. She also got roles in the films 'Color Me Perfect', and 'Masterminds'. She rounded off 1996 with a very emotional role in the TV miniseries 'Intensity'.
Her career really took off in 1997, where she starred in 'The Sentinel', 'Survival on the Mountain', and had a major role in 'Summer of the Monkeys'. She then got a role, with the potential for a more regular appearance in the popular science fiction series Stargate SG-1 as the only surviving member of her race. Her appearance in the series one episode 'Singularity' of Stargate SG-1 was memorable for the extremely gentle treatment she received from the cast:
"Everyone was very kind and made me feel very special, particularly Richard Dean Anderson. He kept trying to make me laugh - and usually did. He's such a great guy. Amanda and Teryl were very sweet, they really did make me feel like part of their family and, professionally, watching them work, I learned so much from them."
She also grew particularly attached to one of the extra cast members:
"The dog O'Neill gives my character at the end of the show was really, really cute. I did not want to give him back."
Katie then got a fixed role in 'The Crow: Stairway to Heaven'. She loved this series, right from when it started. She also made the following comment with regards to the similarities of her character (Sarah Mohr), and herself:
"I think I have the same kind of spunk. I'm very self-reliant, very independent and one of those kids who says I don't need anybody, but I really do."
 She also starred in the BBC miniseries television adaptation of 'The Magician's House' and more recently starred in 'Too Young To Be A Dad', a huge miniseries for Miramax for ABC called 'A Wrinkle in Time', the sequel to the X-Men film 'X2' and had guest roles in 'Mysterious Ways' and the 2nd season of the series 'Dead Like Me'.
In the summer of 2005 she worked briefly on a movie called "She's the Man" with a crazy all-star cast including Vinnie Jones, David Corss, Amanda Bynes and many more. It was directed by Andy Fickman who also directed the remake of "Reefer Madness" (the musical).
In the winter of 2005, just before Christmas, she took a role on 'Augusta Gone' which is a true story about a young girl who finds herself in a lot of trouble at an early age.
"I play Bridget, Augusta's best friend at the reform camp she gets sent to. It was a heavy and intense movie...but the atmosphere on set was brilliant and incredibly comfortable. It was a real privilege to work with the director, Tim Matheson. He really knows how to get what he wants from his actors and from his crew."
 From August to December of 2007, Katie attended Capilano College at the Squamish campus, at the end of which she completed the Wilderness Leadership Program. This temporarily put her acting on hold although she has since gotten back into that.
